"I learned woodcraft for 10 years, but I started handcarving
the rubber board and leather board since the year of 2006.
Under the theme of stamp "to be able to use" for,
I design an i.llustration and the stamp of a practical letter
which are soft and comfortable when I look.
It lets you feel analog time in daily life
by using rubber stamps. In busy every day, I want to
suggest a stamp "to be able to use"
by making you feel happier from its appearance,
and to be able to think how much love and effort to be put by
a designer to handmade each stamp."

I was always a big fan of portraits and the scope of what can be captured in a moment,
the stillness of the figure;
the stare looking out at you;
the placement of objects around the subject;
everything is there for a reason, to accentuate the meaning behind the portrait.
I would always rather hang a portrait on my wall than a nice landscape!

“I want to create with the story that opens Page One of the
picture book from an individual stamp.
It is all lovely; lovely for stamping, and the decoration.
Such stamping creations of enough miscellaneous goods
element is borne in mind.

I have developed my current style by experimenting with different
techniques to create the impression of light and air.
Backgrounds are created
by applying colored pigments to damp wood blocks;
and objects are then drawn and painted with sharp outlines
and bright colors to create depth of field.
The natural grain patterns of the wood that I use as my raw material is
the natural world's contribution to the paintings,
and suggest the collaboration between artist and nature.

At its core,
my art is an attempt to both express and foster the human
characteristics I hold most dear:
love, wonder, whimsy, and joy.

"I had already getting addicted in handcarving
the rubber stamps for 3 years.
The Concept of my design is always cute, and simple;
handcarving carefully one by one in an interval of the housework,
and the child-care.
I wish everyone make a smile with the stamps I made,
so I named my brand as “nico”
(*the Japanese “nico-nico” means the expression of smiling)
In year 2008’, I acquired the qualification of
handcarving rubber stamps’ instructor.
